Beautiful Beach Visit

IMG_6724

Ray, Benji and I went to Tallebudgera Creek today. It is so beautiful and relaxing watching the calm, crystal blue water gently lap onto the white sand. The creek is shadowed by a hill, where you can walk along the track underneath a canopy of trees. This is the second time we have taken our kitten to the beach- the first time he was very scared, but today he was surprisingly calm! As we live in an apartment, he doesn’t spend much time outside so I love taking him to the beach where he can inhale fresh salty air, see so many different things, and get some sun. Here are some photos taken by Ray (see his blog here). Hope you enjoy!

Tippi Degré: The Real Life Mowgli

tippi-degre-the-real-life-mowgli-7

How did I only just hear about this story?! I heard about it while scrolling down Scripting Happiness (a very lovely, inspiring blog by the way). A little girl (she is now 23) named Tippi spent her childhood in Namibia, Africa, living among wild animals and tribes people with her photographer parents. She befriended wild animals, whom she nicknamed and played with.

I love this story for several reasons. It is so nice to hear a story that is so different from the norm. It is lovely that Tippi was open-minded enough to believe that she could have a friendship with another animal- I think a lot of people forget that it is possible to connect with another animal, even if you can’t speak their language.

I also like how her parents would encourage her to befriend the animals. Her parents did exercise caution, but were not excessively scared- they were able to easily observe the animal’s body language and vibe through using their intuition. I like how they were not scared just because everyone else in society was scared, but they actually observed the situation for themselves, allowing them to experience things and make friendships that a lot of people would miss out on.

Anything is Possible

nirrimi

So today, a friend mentioned a girl whose blog she is following. Her name is Nirrimi Joy Firebrace, she is 21, and she has taken some of the most amazing photographs that I have ever seen. The photographs that she posts on her blog are accompanied by long passages of text, describing her life- she had a child at a young age, traveled the world as a photographer, and has experienced some amazing things. Her outlook on life reminded me that really anything is possible, as long as you believe you can do it. You don’t have to follow society’s norms, you can go against the grain- making you stick out a little- but ultimately be happier. I think it is better to focus on what your passion is- whatever it may be- than just try to fit in. After all, whose life are you living? See Nirrimi’s blog here!

DIY Interior Decoration Tips: Black & White Colour Scheme

Have you ever been told  not to have a black and white themed room for fear that it will look bland, empty, and cold? Well think again- this is a myth!

For a minimalistic and elegant room, with a warm, inviting, and fresh feeling, follow a few simple design tips

1) Do not be afraid to add a little bit of colour to your black and white room.

2) Have decorations (cushions, throws etc) that are not block colours of black and white, but black and white patterns or lighter shades (beige, brown, cream, grey etc). A grey throw looks lovely against a white couch, or you can even add a splash of colour by draping a lovely lime green throw across your chair.

4) Having a rug goes a long way in regards to the aesthetic quality of your room. Rugs act as the centre of the space, around which your furniture can surround. Add a rustic red moroccan-inspired rug, or a faux sheepskin rug, to complete your space.

5) A plant in your room can also add just that bit of colour that a black and white room needs. The deep crisp green will give your room a fresh, bright appearance.

6) A piece of furniture in a different colour can also add some warmth to a black and white room. Add a deep blue or soft grey armchair to bring some more colour into the room.

7) As my final tip– I have found that when designing your room, you have to come from the heart. It might seem random to add a blue chair and a red rug to a black and white room, but adding different colours, shapes, and textures to your room will prevent your room from looking boring and allow you to add your unique flair!

Feel free to comment if you have any questions!

Happy decorating!
